Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
CET is committed to racial justice and inclusion. We believe in dismantling historic injustices, and we believe that fostering equity and inclusion is key to achieving our environmental mission and climate mitigation goals.
In this spirit, our Board and staff have been formally co-creating and implementing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Framework since 2020, which is designed to embed DEI principles into all internal and external policies, practices, and services.
1970s
Founded in 1976, CET was a pioneer in energy conservation including offering the first home energy audits.
1980s
Launched the small business energy program providing some of the first energy assessments to businesses.
Helped administer some of the first energy financing programs.
Expanded services to waste management and worked to pass mandatory recycling bylaws in cities and towns.
1990s
Created one of the first web-based materials swap sites.
Created the first home compost bin distribution program.
Piloted commercial food waste programs.
2000s
CET became a leader in building consumer awareness, acceptance, and demand for energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Expanded and scaled energy efficiency and waste reduction services.
Launched a reuse center which would become EcoBuilding Bargains.
Implemented energy services for farms to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
2010s
Began providing building science training and curriculum development.
Expanded geographic footprint outside of Massachusetts.
Piloted programs to improve affordability and access to clean and renewable energy, including Solar Access, Healthy Homes, and Solar Hot Water.
2020s
Piloted new service delivery models like Inclusive Utility Investments and Carbon-Based Incentives.
Launched comprehensive decarbonization services.
Developed the Community Climate Fund as a vehicle for colleges, universities, and businesses to invest in high-impact, local carbon reduction projects.
