Project Highlight - In 2017, Vanguard Energy Partners transformed four closed landfills in Massachusetts into thriving solar farms totaling 14 MW of energy production! These innovative farms were established on "brownfield" land, areas too contaminated for residential or commercial development. One of the advantages of solar is the ability to build on these sites, turning potentially hazardous land into a source of renewable energy, and ultimately providing a major benefit for the local environment! Vanguard Energy Partners has taken the lead in reclaiming several landfills and brownfields to date. While significantly more work must go into these projects to ensure they are installed safely, the benefit of repurposing this once unusable land and providing the local area with clean energy is certainly worth the challenge. It's Machias Monday! AMS Renewable Energy is thrilled to announce our continued progress on the Machias Solar Farm in Machias, NY. This community solar project, developed by Radial Power LLC, spans 16 acres, located just an hour south of Buffalo, NY. With a capacity of 2.78 MW, the Machias Solar Farm will make clean energy more accessible to local residents, allowing them to save on their electric bills while reducing their carbon footprint. As part of New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) program, this initiative enables subscribers to enjoy bill credits to offset their National Grid charges. Our innovative approach included designing an APA Solar Racking fixed-tilt array with ground screws, effectively addressing subsurface risks posed by glacial till observed during pull-testing. Here’s what the project means for the community: ✅ 3,008 tons of CO2 offset annually ✅ Sustainable energy for local homes and businesses ✅ Thoughtful engineering and construction by AMS from start to finish We are proud to partner with Radial Power LLC on this initiative to deliver clean, reliable energy solutions to New York communities. Project Spotlight: Dimension Energy – NY2 & NJ7 In partnership with Dimension Renewable Energy , this project spans nine sites across New Jersey and New York. These installations offer cost-effective solar solutions to residents. The 28.04-megawatt (MW) portfolio is projected to generate 37 gigawatt-hours (GWh) over its lifespan. This energy production will offset 26,000 metric tons of CO2 annually—equivalent to the emissions from burning nearly 30 million pounds of coal or sequestering carbon similar to over 56,000 acres of forest each year.
