For Homes

CET Energy Analyst Bill Lafley checks the readings during an instrumented air sealing of a Williamsburg home. CET offers home energy audits and instrumented air sealing through our contracts with Berkshire Gas Company, Western Mass Electric Company and National Grid.

At CET, we believe that our impact on the Earth is reduced one step at a time, and that our collective actions at home and at work lead to global change.

There are many ways to make your home green, but it can be hard to know where to start. CET has compiled these helpful resources for saving money and saving natural resources, right from the comfort of your own home.

Not sure where to start? Get a Home Energy Audit!

CET’s expert staff can help you identify the most cost effective ways to save energy and money at your home. You or your interest group may want to participate in the Low Carbon Diet: A 30 Day Program to Lose 5000 Pounds, published by the Empowerment Institute. CET recommends this user-friendly workbook to help households reduce their carbon footprint.

Building a New Home? Make it greener, healthier and more efficient!

CET is a proud provider of ENERGY STAR for new homes and the US Green Building Council’s green building certification program, LEED for Homes. Consulting with builders, architects, subcontractors and home owners, CET’s staff will perform a whole house analysis of the building plans and specifications, diagnostic testing, and verification of energy efficiency and green measures.

To obtain certification, builders will have to follow the Thermal Bypass Checklist, a list of construction details that ensure a tighter home. Get the Thermal Bypass Checklist Guide from the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Homes Program.

For more about ENERGY STAR construction or about the LEED for Homes Program, contact Megan.

Green Home Audit

Learn practical measures for achieving a greener home and reducing your home’s ecological footprint through CET’s Green Home Audit. Our green home specialists will use building science analysis to seek solutions for improving indoor air quality, reducing air leakage, addressing combustion safety, fixing moisture problems, and protecting habitat and watersheds around your home. Download our Green Home Audit brochure, or call CET 413-445-4556 ext. 10.
