Deconstruction Supervisor

This position is responsible for bidding, scheduling and supervising ReStore deconstruction activities while achieving our mission to reuse valuable materials through donations of deconstructed homes and buildings. This position reports to the ReStore Manager.

Position Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

  • Use and refine established procedure to bid on possible deconstruction jobs
  • Work with ReStore Manager and Marketing and Sales Manager to adjust work scope and pricing for potential jobs as needed
  • Ensure all required permits, insurance certificates, safety checks etc. are in place prior to commencing work
  • Schedule and supervise staff and deployment of equipment and materials to successfully complete jobs on time and on budget
  • Manage deconstruction projects to maximize recovery of reusable and recyclable materials, with a priority given to reuse, while minimizing waste
  • Work with manager to coordinate truck resources between store and deconstruction jobs
  • Maintain safe conditions for employees and the public
  • Continually inspect construction site to ensure compliance with codes and regulations as required
  • Develop, update and document safety and regulatory compliance procedures
  • Hire, supervise and motivate staff engaged in planning and executing work procedures. Maintain communication, arrange meetings to keep staff informed
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, including worker complaints and grievances
  • Provide deconstruction clients with outstanding customer service
  • Review and approve all invoices, time sheets, travel reimbursement pertaining to deconstruction site, submit all approved bills per established procedure
  • Oversee proper maintenance and improvements of equipment, vehicles and tools used for deconstruction
  • Complete inventory tracking and tax receipt paperwork for each job
  • Perform all deconstruction duties side by side with the rest of the crew - including hand demolition, de-nailing, separating construction waste, loading/unloading trucks, driving trucks and equipment (extension forklift)
Required Qualifications:
  • MA Licensed Construction Supervisor, Certified in EPA Lead-Safe Program and OSHA Lead in Construction, OSHA 10 hour accredited
  • Minimum five years of construction experience
  • Minimum two years of construction supervisor experience bidding jobs and running a crew, ideally as an employee of a construction business or non-profit organization (not self-employed)
  • Ability to use excellent judgment with regards to safety and best practices
  • Ability to supervise deconstruction laborers with a particular emphasis on safety, efficiency and customer service and appearance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong commitment to non-profit community and environmental mission of the ReStore and CET
  • Physically able to lift heavy objects (75 pounds) and use hand and small power tools on a regular and repeated basis for ten hour work days in all weather conditions; move freely (including twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, etc.) to perform job duties; and operate pallet jack, dolly, forklift and other moving equipment
  • Ability to operate construction equipment including pallet jack, dolly, extension forklift, reach loader, bobcat and other moving equipment
  • Possession of or ability to obtain MA Hoisting license
  • Excellent driving record, valid MA drivers license, automobile
  • Truck driving experience and ability to drive box trucks and flatbed trucks
  • Good knowledge of value and use of home improvement materials
  • Computer word processing, spreadsheet and database skills
This is a full-time hourly position with wages commensurate with experience and generous benefits including health insurance, paid vacation, 12 paid holidays, and sick leave. Director of Business Operations

This position manages and has direct responsibility for non-programmatic operations, specifically in the areas of fiscal administration, information technology, human resources, contract management, regulatory compliance and insurance, and facilities including buildings, fleet and equipment. The position provides leadership, management and vision to ensure CET has operational controls and administrative reporting procedures to achieve financial strength and operating efficiency consistent with our mission. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Position responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management in order to successfully support CET's mission
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to meet the changing needs of the organization
  • Fiscal administration: Supervise the Fiscal Administrator who oversees all fiscal operations including budgeting, tracking and reporting, invoicing, internal controls, accounts payable and receivable, collections, cash flow management, purchase orders, payroll preparation and inventory. Oversee annual budget process including creation of budget, regular review of budget-to-actual numbers and implementation of cost efficiency measures
  • Insurance, Contract Management and Regulatory compliance: Ensure compliance in concert with appropriate staff for all regulations and requirements including IRS, DOL, OSHA, DOT, Fire Safety, Service Mark Registration, etc. In consultation with appropriate staff and legal counsel, oversee proper implementation of contracts and agreements. Procure and manage liability, health, property, vehicle and workers compensation insurance and implement insurance provider requirements
  • Facilities, fleet and equipment: Oversee and develop procedures for the purchasing, maintenance and repair, and capital improvements for all facilities, fleet and equipment. Lead CET's Green Team to measure and reduce the environmental impact of our operations. Develop and maintain capital improvement plan and budget
  • Information technology: Supervise Director of IT who oversees IT and communications systems and equipment and researches and evaluates new technologies on an on-going basis. Work with Director of IT to develop, implement and update a technology plan and budget
  • Human Resources: Supervise HR Manager who oversees all human resources procedures related to recruitment, hiring, discipline and termination, training, compensation, benefits, evaluations, policy development and record keeping

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Business or related subject or equivalent experience in business management
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience managing operations including Fiscal, HR, IT, and Facilities for medium-sized organization

Project Manager
Residential Conservation Services

This is a position working with independent contractors who deliver portions of the MassSAVE program services, such as energy audits, air sealing, or insulation. The position will involve providing information to contractors, facilitating meetings with contractors, training contractors how to follow MassSAVE protocols, providing technical and programmatic support to contractors, and coordinating billing and data collection. The position is responsible for ensuring that independent contractors are able to participate in the program as outlined by our utility company clients.

Potential Responsibilities:

  • Working with CET staff to implement new independent contractor programs
  • Informing independent contractors of opportunities to provide services and guidelines for how to do so
  • Facilitating meetings with contractors
  • Providing technical and programmatic support to independent contractors
  • Revising or developing forms, such as audit data collection forms for contractors
  • Revising or developing written procedures for independent contractors
  • Coordinating data collection and billing
  • Preparing reports for use inside and/or outside CET, such as numbers of audits, air sealing jobs, or insulation jobs performed, measures installed, or savings achieved
  • Assisting with CETÕs energy program work through staff training, quality assurance inspections, and mentoring
  • Managing projects at CET that may vary in scope and duration, including direct communication with the client
Qualifications:
  • College degree preferred or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in energy efficiency / renewable energy / green building technologies
  • Excellent writing skills and experience with MS Word

RCS Program Manager

This position oversees CET’s Residential Conservation Services (RCS) Program, a comprehensive audit and weatherization program which is part of Mass Save. The program employs approximately 50 staff members at CET. This position will manage the program and staff and be responsible for achieving production and energy savings goals, managing the quality of program services, and recruiting and managing program installation contractors. This position reports to the Director of Energy Efficiency and Green Building.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all program services meet and exceed utility client expectations and customer needs
  • Manage and grow relationships with utility clients to ensure client satisfaction
  • Meet and exceed all financial, energy savings, and quality goals
  • Maximize employee performance
  • Provide leadership and inspiration to program staff
  • Recruit and manage program installation contractors
  • Manage program data and reporting activities
  • Coach and directly supervise 3-5 managers
  • Ensure proper delivery of field services (audits, air sealing, insulation, and inspections)
  • Ensure proper delivery of administrative services (scheduling, customer service, contractor arranging, billing)
  • Ensure technical standards and protocols used in the program are appropriate, effective, professional, and implemented uniformly
  • Coordinate with other CET departments including Human Resources, IT, and Fiscal
  • Represent CET at utility meetings

Qualifications:
  • College degree and 5-7 years of related experience in management, energy efficiency, customer service or construction
  • Minimum 5 years experience in home construction / renovation / energy efficiency
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated success with program management and client service in the field of energy efficiency or related industry
  • Experience with meeting contractual, program obligations on time and within budget, and operating complex projects with multiple levels of authority and influence
  • Ability to effectively use performance management and coaching to achieve and reward results

Training Project Manager

This position manages the scheduling, coordination, and promotion of training courses offered in various locations to both CET employees and members of the general public. This position handles student enrollment, online and phone registration systems, tuition payments, financial records, and assists the training manager and instructors with course logistics.

Quality Assurance Inspector

This position works in the MassSAVE program, a statewide effort to improve the energy efficiency of homes. Within the Quality Assurance & Repair Department and under the direct supervision of the Manager of Quality Assurance, this position involves going to customer's homes to inspect completed air sealing and insulation work, performing diagnostic testing and combustion safety testing, resolving any customer concerns, and working with contractors to correct any problems discovered. This position ensures that homes in the RCS program are inspected and when problems are discovered, they are documented and repaired.

Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

  • Complete four inspections per day of homes that have been air sealed and/or insulated
  • Take detailed notes of any problems discovered at inspection
  • Establish plans for correcting any problems, including measuring and specifying insulation and other improvements
  • Explain problems discovered to contractors through phone conversations, emails, photos, and meetings
  • Follow up with contractors to ensure all problems are corrected
  • Make recommendations for changes to installation standards and audit protocols to prevent future problems
  • Communicate with customers to resolve all complaints
  • Work with contractors and CET managers to prevent future problems

Qualifications:
  • HS/GED diploma required and minimum 2 years customer service experience
  • Home construction / renovation experience
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills and computer skills
  • Strong organizational, communication and time management skills
  • Ability to learn and perform a variety of diagnostic tests
  • Good math skills including geometry
  • Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, on ladders, and carry loads (involves ability to work in hot and cold temperatures, good balance, and ability to crawl and kneel for extended periods of time)
